Just noticed that my bank account was charged for the Season 2 Boxset that I preordered at DeepDiscountDVD.com. That means that they are now shipping Season 2 and I should have mine by the end of the week. (Yay, priority shipping :))

Wow. So, with birthday best buy giftcards and cash, I picked up all the Season 3 sets last week. I already own the Season 1 box. So after only catching my first FS episode back in March, I've now seen all the episodes that have been made up to this point, many more than once (Crackers Don't Matter and Won't Get Fooled Again are like Audio/Visual comfort food), will now own everything they have out on DVD and have my new roommate totally hooked and just getting to the end of S1 on the DVDs. Add to that the fact that the rumors are flying fast and thick that a miniseries is going to be announced at Burbank.

It's a good day to be a Farscape fan, no?

I haven't been billed yet either.

However, I'll take your shipment as good omen that I won't recieve TOO late after 10/28/03!

It will be interesting to see if the S2 Boxset gets into the Top Ten DVD Sales. I'm also hoping that it will be reviewed in Entertainment Weekly. They reviewed the S1 Boxset and gave it a good review.

I'm sure your guys S2 boxsets will ship soon, if not today. I've never had any issues with DeepDiscountDVD. (*knocks on wood*)

Hopefully the S2 box will give media outlets another chance to get Farscape out there in front of the public. An EW review would be nice. I'd like to see reviews done by the major DVD reviewing sites: DVDFile.com, thedigitalbits.com, etc. If no one writes a review I'll try to write one for HomeTheaterForum.com. Getting the word out to tech savvy DVD aficionados could generate some good sales for the set.

Hello all,

I just went on www.DeepDiscountDVD.com and ordered season 2. I am nervous though, buying stuff over the internet is definately not my style. I only did it because I trust some of the screen names that bought it through DDDVD and because it is so cheep.

Can someone please reasure me It was safe to do this.
Will i receive it on time?
Will it be in little pieces?
Will it be the wrong DVD zone?
Will it be in english?

AHHHHHH!

I order most of my DVDs through DeepDiscount and I haven't had any problems. They are all legitimate Region 1 DVDs, almost always the best price on the net, and from what I understand you can even order over the phone if you feel queasy entering your credit card info on the net.

Mine shipped late yesterday.

Expected date here is 10/30-11/02 according to their calculations. That seems high.

I know their contact address is in the midwest, but does anyone know where they actually warehouse/ship from?

I'll second the recommendation for deepdiscountdvd.com. They've always been topnotch for me, and I've ordered quite a bit from them--mostly preorders, in fact.

We've received a lot of things in the Military PO Box from DDDvd and they have all been packaged exceptionally..and been of the highest quality. I've been impressed enough to start doing business with them myself. :)

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I ordered it last night and got an order confirmation, but no shipping date. I hope it comes soon! Oct. 28 seems like an eternity away.

If you have multi-region DVD players, I suggest buying Region 2 Season 2 Boxset (on sale November 3rd), you'll get 3 more commentaries which were recorded for Australian release but Contender UK maneged to get them for their release (MTB, WGFA - different from ADV commentary and DMD).

Does anyone know the ADV email for their customer support or suggestions or whatever it is I emailed to them last time when I requested seasons 2-4? They said no to a season 2 box set, or rather they diplomatically said something to the effect of "we have at this time no plans to produce...yadda yadda yadda." So I think we need another push for seasons 3 and 4 box sets, don't you?

Hmmm... they initally said that they weren't releasing a S2 boxset? Were the inital sales of the S1 boxset low? Anyway, I think with the cancellation and sporadic, hard to find repeats that people wanting to catch up on Farscape are now seeking out the DVDs. The SaveFarscape distribution projects alone are probably turning a profit for ADV on the DVDs. :)

Anyway I can't see ADV feeling that's there not enough interest or profitability in releasing season box sets after the individual sets. I think they've established the pattern of releasing the season boxset after the following season has been released in seperate sets. So, we'll probably see a Season 3 boxset in June or July 2004 after the Season 4 releases. (I think the delay in releasing the sets is to allow the individual sets to sell as much as possible and clear out inventory before competing with them on the shelf with the complete season box.)

Unrelated question but still pretaining to season 2, why am I seeing Dream a little dream as the first ep. We all know it did not air that way. I want to know because i am watching with a friend who has never seen anything past season 1 (I converted him and he loves it) and I don't want to stear him wrong or confuse him.

Thanks

they were originally going to air Dream a Little Dream first, but they felt that it was too much of a "soft" opening so they put Mind the Baby instead. And they did a slight change to the beginning and end of DALD to make Zhaan talk about it with Crichton (flashback). Farscape World has a good list of air date and production date, if you want to compare.

by the way: anyone who ordered from bestprices.com--when do they send those out? not till the 28th? becuase I haven't been notified that they sent season 2 box set out

While I have no hard evidence to back this up I think the S1 Box Set did very well. I know it has sold very well at my local Best Buy. I think it might be more reasonable to assume that ADV was saying "no plans for a S2 Box set" to spur sales of the individual DVD's. Is that a cynical outlook on my part? Maybe. But it was probably very good for ADV's bottom line. More sales of the higher priced individual DVD's and more buzz created for the S2 Box set when it was announced.

No, not cynical, just business. The probably did say "No plans" as an equivication to make people on the fence go and buy the slightly more expensive (overall) individual sets.

Which I have been doing...
Although those in the UK will be pleased to know that in HMV for a limited time all individual box set are half price (£12:99 instead of the usual £24:99)

So, I was getting a little huffy that I pre-ordered my Season 2 Box Set from deepdvddiscount and mine hadn's shipped so I called them. The lady said mine was shipped yesterday and that their automated e-mail shipping info was on the fritz and that is why I hadn't received a notice.

Breathing sigh of relief and now jumping up and down.

AuroraSun, I also ordered my S2 boxset from bestprices.com. As of today, it has not shipped. From what I can gather by e-mail, they probably won't ship until the 28th. Patience sucks!

It it me, or did ADV kind or mess up the cover design for the box set? Usually season sets have something that....match each other. This set has absolutely nothing that matches the ever-so-cool season one set. It is kind of ugly, too. A little too clulttered. I would have to admit those of you R2 owners that say Contender makes better cover designs won this one. I really hate having sets next to each other not match, call it a pet-peeve if you will. Hopefully ADV pulls it together for the third season box set release.

Maybe I'm kind of pissed becuase I own other sets like Angel and Hercules that match their following seasons perfectly. I haven't seen the DVD spine side yet......maybe that looks better.

A question for you R1 owners: How many DVD boxes are there? Most, possibly all, sites say 6, but there are only ten discs. It doesn't make sense.

The boxset is simply the slipcover housing the 2.1-2.5 double disc sets. (With the lower pricing.) My local Best Buy had 3 Season 2 Sets out on the shelf this evening.

Ep. 22 Die Me, Dichotomy is still out of order on Disc 1 of the 2.5 set, however the back of the boxset lists the correct order of the episodes and the back of the 2.5 case lists a 'Disk1' or 'Disk 2' next to the episode descriptions which are listed in the correct order. (Liars, Guns, and Money I-III are on the final disc.) I still think its way too easy for someone to watch the season finale before LG&M if they don't know of the order mixup ahead of time. At least they didn't repeat this issue with Season 3.

I Just ordered, Thanks for the update and reminder. I checked around at my usual shopping sites and they were all a couple bucks higher than DDDC; plus you had to pay for shipping.

I always shop on the net. Shopping late at night in PJ's ROCKS!! Plus, a crooked sales person or waiter (not that I'm saying that ALL are like this) could just as easily fish your credit card slip from the trash or their stack of charges and steal your information. In fact... it's actually easier. I know this to have happened at least 2 times, but have no experience of this happening at legitimate web sites.

Now I can delete all those season 2 eps from TiVo and make room for other stuff. I'm so excited!!!

RE: Sales of Season 1. Before I ordered from DDDC, I checked Half.com (a great place to buy books and some DVD's). They are pre-ordering Season 2 and they show the "risk of selling out" to be "extremely high." That should be a good sign that the market is still there. I hope it does sell out everywhere so we can get the rest of them and so on...
