I'm from Boston. I certainly wouldn't qualify myself as a Scaper, but I enjoy the show.

Just bumping this to see if we have any other new Boston Scapers out there what with all the registrations we've been getting lately.

We also have our own domain name now at : http://www.bostonscapers.com

Digger, that's a very ironic statement sitting as it is next to your handle ;).

Couldn't be helped. I just started another post with "Dug the article by...." .

It's been a long day!

Hey, have you written to the Globe? The Herald has done a couple of FARSCAPE articles, but nothing in the Globe. Gotta get them off the schnide.

Within the next few days I have consecrated a few hours to sending off a Boston-specific press release to just about every newspaper around Boston including the tiny local ones in the hopes of drumming up a few articles.

And we placed an ad in the Phoenix that will be running through the final 11 episodes :D. As soon as I get a copy (probably mailed from home since I am at the moment in Vermont) I will scan and post it up for everyone to see.

When you send it out, be sure to send it to Matthew Gilbert at the Globe. I sent him an email a few weeks ago and he seemed interested in possibly doing an article about the campaign, but I've not heard back from him since.

Matthew Gilbert, will do. Thanks for the help!

*waves* Just surfin' during a quiet moment at work. ;)

Stilgar, my definition of a Scaper is anyone who enjoys watching Farscape. Anyone who is a fan of the show, no matter how casual or how rabid, is a Scaper (by my definition anyway). So you qualify! :)

okay, back to work now ...

FARSCAPE AT READERCON
Kurt Engfehr, a big Farscape fan and member of The Viewer Consortium Staff will be at Reader Con tomorrow and Sat. in MA.
He will talk about Farscape's cancellation and TVC in one session and about writing in new dimensions with a panel of writers.
Conference 7/11-7/13 in Burlington, Ma
(The Burlington Marriott (781-229-6565) is northwest of Boston, at the intersection of Route 3A and Burlington Mall Road)

Reader Con is for readers and writers and has LOTS of Sci Fi programs and is part of the Science Fiction Convention Webring.
Kurt's schedule is:
Sat 02:00 RI
TV That Doesn't Suck: How To Fund Your Own Shows. Kurt Engfehr. Talk / Discussion (60 min). Tired of having your favorite show canceled? 600 channels and nothing to watch? The Viewer Consortium may be able to help. The VC is a company formed by sf fans angry at having their favorite shows canceled and determined to do something about it. By forming an organized funding operation, the VC hopes to bankroll shows in order to keep them on the air when networks have decided to cancel them. The VC has begun preliminary negotiations with various networks and production companies in an attempt to get a 5th season of Farscape funded. We'd like feedback from you, the actual sf audience

[#17] Fri 06:00 H
Adventures in Other Dimensions. Michael A. Burstein, Kurt Engfehr, Paul Levinson (+M), Rudy Rucker, Ian Randal Strock. Radical shifts in perspective can be gained from imagined worlds having a different -- usually greater -- number of spatial dimensions than our own boring three. Yet such stories, centering on the perception and physics of higher dimensions, are rare. Too hard to write? Asking too much of the reader (but surely not of Readercon regulars)? Come help us strike out in new dimensions.

All speakers and panels are here:

Giving this thread a little bump =)

If anyone has missed out on sending a message to the con books (or wants to send another one), Atomicpagan is putting together con books for Ben, Anthony and Gigi from the Boston Scapers (& friends *g*) to be presented to them at the Meadowlands NJ con. You don't have to be a Boston area Scaper to send a message. She's accepting notes of any length, photos, artwork, poems, etc. Please keep it PG-13 & ask if you have any questions. Feel free to spread the word on other boards, too, wherever Scapers may be lurking!

Deadline: Nov. 24

Has complacency gotten ahold of everyone????

Yes! It's winter in New England. Everyone will wake up say....in April

Wonder if they're going to do Escapade again this year?? I bought my ticket last year, but couldn't make it at the last minute.

I want to see people in Scorpy outfits riding the swan boats!

I would LOVE to hear from some of you guys for my Con Books. Guy Gross, the master of music behind Farscape and Wayne Pygram, the incredible Scorpious.

Just a few words, please...they would love to hear from all over the world. Send to Natira722@yahoo.com and mention what part of the US you're from. A group message is just fine!

Hugs,
Egraine

There are no plans right now to hold Escapade again this year. I'd love for something to be put together for next year though, but we'll have to wait and see what 2005 brings our way. ;)
