If you have suggestions for a better poll, or a poll/survey that would illustrate the depth of Farscape fans' commitment, please add them here.
Sorry about the mistake, it's our first attempt to gather data here.

This should finally be a fixed version....

edited by administrator to add the Viewer Consortium's original post :)

TVC is now contacting companies in the TV industry and sponsors. It would help to know how much Farscape fans have spent on merchandise and advertising Farscape. The figures will show that viewers are willing to pay for TV shows and entertainment they prefer, like they pay for other entertainment, movies, rentals of movies, music.
How much have you spent on Farscape in the last 12 months?

Remember time sometimes is a greater commodity than money. Some people have spent all their free time on this campaign since it was announced on September 6.

The adage about time being money may not be really appropriate for the purposes of poll. Unless, for instance, you worked on the campaign rather then doing your job or other income producing activity instead. And even then, it should only apply if you had an obligation to do that other activity, as opposed to it being voluntary.

For instance, if I take time off for which I am not compenstated in order to work on something capmaign related, that counts.

If I have the opportunity to work overtime, but chose not to, that doesn't count.

And do the cons count? As merchandise maybe?

I had never been to a fan con of any kind prior to attending the NYC con. And I highly doubt I would have gone had the show not been cancelled in the way that it was.

crap.. I pushed the wrong buttons on the poll (duh....how much money did you spend on FS DVDs, B?) is there any way to do a do-over?

Why is it that one can vote for both merchandise and contributions but the percentages are summing to 100% for both pooled, rather than for each of the two categories that one can vote in? In other words, if each person votes in each of the two categories, the number of votes at the bottom is twice the number of people voting, and the percentages shown are half what they should be for each category. Doesn't really make sense.

Well, that's all message board polls can do, but you should still be able to figure it out.

Spent about $125 on stuff so far, but that's going to go WAY up.

$100 is promised for donation to save the show.

When more DVDs are available we will spend more. The con in portland is going to cost me a bit(3people2days) If season 5 could be pre sold to us we would write a check today. Hope the info helps.

I didn't know that the pledge amount counted, I only totaled stamps and stationary. Can you add $20 to contributions ( I know it's not a lot but have been out of work a year now. )

Well, I voted for the under $15 bucks for the campaign thingy, because, actually, I've spent a little more than that, when I total up the postage and the small donation I could afford to make. But it was a closer to $15 than $250 and I felt that category described my donation zone better.

I was shocked to work out though, that on DVDs alone, I've spent about 300 pounds ($450). I suppose it's not so bad when you consider it's been over a period of three years, but still, I didn't know I *HAD* that much money!

I put $15 on there as a mark (the original categories seemed messier with $0-100, 100-200, 250-500, or something) because I thought it made sense in a campaign sort of way. First off, grouping people who contributed 0-100 seemed not right, because people who contributed the tip they would've given to their bartender on the weekend or the price of a single stamp is a lot less than $100. I've noticed the absolute mininum for membership of at least a few door to door groups is $15.

I can sorta see why they'd do that. If someone like a college student gets fired up one night and writes a letter (which IS important), sends it off, and never worries again about it, they do have an interest, but it's not necessarily a financial interest. Someone who spends $15 or more (for a lot of people, that's more than pocket change), it's at least enough money to keep them concerned about where their money is going and what it's actually getting done. This also weeds out the people who would just give a dollar or two or could have instead spent very small amounts working for the campaign, and as above forgotten about it the next day.

$250 was the next mark because it was used in the original poll done by TVC. Usually, the smallest groups probably start identifying members on their literature at about $200 mininum. Most politicians and lobby groups don't concern themselves with much more than the number of members, below that mark, because it's not such a huge investment that you're actually gonna be contributing a major percentage of money yourself. I realize there's a big jump from $15 to $250, but I think what I'm trying to say is $15 is plenty to people who understand membership in this manner, and since our cause is Farscape, I assumed this would be a concern of ours. By the way, I apologize if I was wrong. I was simply trying to get a poll going and actually working and just happened to put that in.

One thing that does interest me, though, is the few people who responded that they spent less than $15, but they have spent something. Normally, you'd expect 2-3 times the number of members giving under $15, in a door to door campaign. No, this is not a door to door campaign, but you'd think there are plenty of people who check occasionally and occasionally spend money on postage or look on once and give a small pledge, but I have no clue where they are. I assume either a) these peopel do exist, but this forum is only viewed by the greatest supporters of Farscape, b) there is an untapped market of Farscape fans out there, maybe even on the web, willing to write a letter or two, or whatever, but not willing to got he whole mile, or c) web site contributions are higher, because of statistical sampling and people who actually have access, so $15 is cheaper than I thought.

I know with the idea of the commercial during the final episode means we're partly betting on "b)," but I'm not sure whether we're expecting a majority of the interest we draw up to only have a fleeting interest.... Well, spending less than $15 doesn't mean JUST a fleeting interest, but does mean less reason for them not to just walk away without continuing their concern for the results of the campaign.
