I know there's a number of NY Scapers, just seeing if I'm the only one (that reads this site) from New Jersey.

Hi All,
I live in Bloomfield. Right now I am trying to get the Farscape commercial aired on the Comcast Cable system in the North Jersey. The state is divided in half. It will be shown March 21 8-9 PM and March 22nd 12-1 AM. If you would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. Don't forget to tune in.

I'm in Jersey too. In Elizabeth, a bit more south than most of you folks. But I also have cablevision. I know of others that are in Jersey that don't know of this site. I just found it myself after I found out the way they ended the series. I need to spread the word.

I've been trying to spred the word in New Jersey via Starfleet: the Internation Star Trek Fan Association. I'm with the Avenger, local chapter.
And "Hi Farscape Fiend! Welcome to the board" :hi:

Hey, I tried for years to work as a civilian at McGuire! (it was a job which was listed as "no openings, but taking applications.) Then my husband (the NJ native) told me just how far it was from us...oops.
We should start a NewJersey Scapers "club" thingy - like the folks in the Boston area have. Or at least find time to watch FS DVD's together, have pizza, beer, margarita shooters, coffee and chocolate :-) <I think we all hit legal age many years ago.>

Hey All,
Since the Boston Scapers, and others from around the US and World have formed their own little demographic groups, thought we could form our own Jersey Scapers. From what I've heard, alot of NJ do things with the NewYork Scapers, which is great. However, we Jersians do have our own local charities, newspapers, etc., so to me, forming our own little group seems logical.
I'm not good at webpages and figured one would be helpful. We could also start up a yahoo or MSN group/listserve. (Prefer the later myself.) Or, for now, we can just post messages here.
What do you all think?

And big begging hint for someone to do the website - any website.

Heidi my dear...I don't have a clue about building a web site but I'll be glad to help someone who can. I'm a real GOOBER :rollin: when it comes to computers. I love the idea of a Jersey scaper site though! Yeeeeehaaaaaaaa :aok:
BTW I was looking at your cards on the other thread and they are so damn cool!

Hey
I hope everyone's still gonna watch Farscape at 8 tonight (DVD or video,of course).Friday wouldn't be the same without it.Make sure to send Sci-fi an e-mail letting them know you watched that instead of Tremors.Where in Jersey is Concrete?
Chaym
03-29-2003, 08:29 PM
Concrete is what I call North Brunswick in Middlesex County. I'm orginially from the 2nd largest city in West Virginia. Even after living in 5 other states and this one for over a decade, I miss my mountains and trees. I live near the Rt.130/Rt1 circle they're rebuilding with the many ramps and overpasses. Rutgers University took an interest in one of my tiny front yard's trees. The tree is frelling HUGE. They said it was the oldest tree in the county or something. It's also one of the few trees in our neighborhood.
So, that's why it's Concrete, NJ to me. (Sorry for the rambling.)

Cool
Not to be nosy. The only reason I asked is that I do a lot of driving for work and I'd never heard of it,now I know why.I know right where you're talking about,I have a few accounts in that area. That construction is a pan in the ass.

As of 4:31 p.m., EST, we now have a Yahoo Group! (Thanks to Kerlin for the suggestion.) :bounce: :bounce:
The addy is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newjerseyscapers/
The email addy is: newjerseyscapers@yahoo.com
Tell all your friends! Tell your family! Tell your coworkers!
And for Akimbo, or whomever is receiving all those cards from the ads, if you'd like, I can send the Jersian's something from us - the New Jersey Scapers.
Hopes for the immediate future of New Jersey Scapers:
:)a table at Jersey Devil Con - happening very soon
:)Flyers
:)Putting up these flyers at local colleges. (Suggest to start at Rutgers University since I've done it before with my local ST group)
:) A meet-up at a restaurant, diner, or someone's house. (One we arrange ourselves instead of relying on the meet-up link.)
Hopes for the near future:
:) Newspaper and radio ads
:) meeting up with the NYC Area Scapers and PA Scapers (does PA have their own group?)
That's it for now. I actually hope to get stuff up on the site. Right now, it exists, that's it.

Paladin13, it's o.k. Didn't think you were being nosy. I admire you for being able to handle driving so much with your job. My husband is the native and I let him drive as much as possible. I used to commute near the Princeton Airport (job before last) and Cranford, NJ (last job.) Oh, and don't get me started about the evilness of Rt.18

Hi there NJ-Scapers, I'm not from the US but I do have family in Hamilton Trenton and Princeton. We actually found them over the internet, my dad had lost touch with them when he was a little kid, so we did some research on the web 2 years ago and couldn't believe it when we found them! Anyone from anywhere near there? Oops Chaym, just reading something about Princeton Airport in your last post?
Don't know much about NJ at all, are those nice areas? I've only visited my family once for 2 days. Our cousin took us to a lovely but bizarre Park with Art all over the place. Frell, I forgot what it was called. Whenever I tell people I got family in New Jersey they start teasing me about them beeing Mafia-Bosses hehehe. That's because I'm half Italian I guess. *LOL*
Chaym
04-01-2003, 04:15 PM
Hi Kyntio. I know of those areas, worked near those areas, but never seen that park. I'm not a native, so maybe a native could help. I'll ask the husband.
And I'm trying to be very PC about NJ. My heart still lies in West Virginia (where I was raised) and in New Hampshire (where I plan on moving in a few years/as soon as we can get enough money too.) I just wasn't meant to be surrounded by concrete and we've no choice as my husband works for the county and we're forced to stay in it. (Plus, the son's asthma makes moving a neccessity.)
You're welcome to join us! The more the merrier - even from out-of-country. Which country are you from? I've got friends in the UK, Wales, and Australia - from the Unofficial UK Farscape Board.

Very Cool.Someone from Bergen.I'm in Dumont and I was beginning to think only people down south watched.Gonna go check out the yahoo club now.By the way Chaym,I think its very cool that you're doing all this.I've been doing stuff since the first week the show was cancelled (petitons, letters,KFC,etc) but didn't feel the need to be social till the last episode for some reason and since I can't stand the city,it's nice to see someone in Jersey doing something. Thanks
I'm in Caldwell, which is in west Essex County. I've been watching since the first episode on the first night. Glad to see other Jersey types are out here! I'll definitely be going to the JerseyDevil con. Hopefully some of you till be there, too.

Just joined the yahoo groups. Has anyone started on the web site yet? I'm in the computer field but I do Networking. I'm always looking to get into to new things and play around. I could try to set up a JerseyScaper site if anyone has not tried to do so yet. I have a friend that knows how to set up web site, I could always ask him for help. It's always fun trying to build something out of scratch. It's good to see that there are alot Jersey scapers.

YO!!!!
Camden County here!!!
I was begining to think I was the only one in the Philadelphia area.
When we were running ads for the last farscape ep, I questioned as to why there was no s.jersey / phila time slot purchased. No one answered, so I just figured that I was alone in this area.
Actually, I kinda am
You guys seem to be farther north.
any way... Lets pull some reasources. The philadelphia area is a huge market, yet untapped by us scapers.

hey everyone!
First, thanks muchly for posting here and for signing up with the New Jersey Scapers :-) (What have I started? lol!) And I'll post more as soon as I get my addy straightened out with them. (My IP had problems and is frelling up posts from email, which make me have to go to the site and post from there etc.)
Kre - cool that you'll be at JerseyDevilCon. Right now, I *still* don't even have a minimum wage job, so it looks like it'll be flyers for now at the Starfleet table. (BTW, if it wasn't a federal crime, I'd kick the arse of the personnel person who *swore* I'd have work at the beginning of April.)
FarscapeFiend - please, feel free to set up the website! I've only done one site on geocities and it was pain in the eema.
Sococlear - I'm new to the SaveFarscape board and didn't even know about the ads. It's one of the reasons I wanted to organize the Jersey Scapers - so we could run our own. About Rowan Univ. - I was thinking about starting to paste flyers all over college campuses. We can start with yours and Rutgers. (I know a few folks on the NJScaper's board go there.) As for the Philly group - from what I've heard, they're not organized yet. If they ever do, I've got a friend who's be interested.

Posting flyers at colleges, hmmm
Like using the posters with in this website when you fisrt log in.
I could make a few generic ones and photo copy them.
Any ideas on what to Advertise though?
- watch re-runs
- join this web-site
- ??
Chaym
04-14-2003, 08:34 PM
both
I'm using one of mycattoldme's designs for the JerseyCon.
Different flyers (looks-wise) are a plus! More attention that way ;)
So, anyone have a prefference on which college(s) to target first? Or a month/day? Not pushing, just trying to do it before semester ends hopefully.

Not shore where to post this , but i live in NJ so you Scapers might know what i am talking about , ever body is saying that if we can't get sci-if to put farscape back on friday with a season 5 and may be 6 , that we should get another channel to buy the rights to farscape ,I was thinking that the new TNN has a lot of good old shows like 7Days , Highlander , and new stuff like the new Ren and stimpe cartoons , do you think it's on enough cable networks so that ever scaper would get it ??
