They keep tweaking, yes, trying to get the ratings to make more sense. Some of their changes have been good.

so, i take it, they've tweaked it to give more weight to the opinions of people that actually hang out at hey nielsen, critiquing shows rather than the people that just do a one shot?

At the moment they say they are going to essentially let you increase the weight of your input if you are more broadly active (that is, have input about more than a single show, for instance), and if you have more recommenders (other members who have chosen to make you a recommender for them). They say "The more recommenders you add - and the more who add you - the more powerful your opinions become."

So I have been rating and adding opinions and comments to whatever interests me outside of Farscape (as well as adding comments and opinions to Farscape), and have a few recommenders. It has seemed to change my status from the lowest (fan) to the next lowest (rising star).

Farscape is at the top of new scifi tv downloads at itunes!

But Farscape is buried on the fifth page of the HN site.
