G.I. Joe, meet Aeryn Sun!
WatchFarscape.com, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of Scapers and the help of ADVFilms, has been able to give thousands of dollars worth of Farscape to different branches of the U.S. Military.
Why do we do this? Two reasons. One: To support our soliders in the military, both at home and abroad, with entertainment for them to enjoy in their free time. Two: To help increase the exposure of Farscape and gain more potential fans to the show, thereby increasing the size of the Farscape audience.
Have we been successful in donating Farscape? Hell Yeah!! Just take a look at the list of places we've donated in the past!
- 8/14/2003 - Scapers sent Farscape DVDs, Season Companions, and books to be donated to McGuire Air Force base in New Jersey.
10/2003 - Fort Dix received a donation of 68 Farscape DVDs. 11/2003 - SaveFarscape.com/Watchfarscape.com partnered with ADVFilms and became a co-commercial sponsor of the U.S. Navy. 25 Farscape season 1 boxsets were donated by the fans, and the Navy became the recipient of over $4000 of Farscape that were placed in the Navy's 88 Liberty/Single Sailor Centers. 2/2004 - the SaveFarscape/WatchFarscape.com Military and Library Projects teamed up to donate boxsets of seasons 1 and 2, and the first volume of season 3 of Farscape to the Daniel Library at The Citadel. 3/2004 - Word reached us that a group of soliders in the Army had all of their dvds destroyed in a fire while they were stationed in Kuwait. The Military Project was able to get them a full set of Farscape (seasons 1 - 3), and volumes 4.1- 4.3 to help replace some of the dvds they lost. 8/2004 - The US Army's Southeast Region was the recipient of 28 Farscape Season 1 boxsets, 14 purchased through the donations of Scapers, and 14 generously donated to the US Army by ADVFilms, and these were put in Post Libraries and Recreation Centers. 12/2004 - Fort Belvoir Army Base and Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren in Virginia were the recipients of Farscape season 1 boxsets. 10/2005 - WatchFarscape.com, through the generous donations of Scapers worldwide, has been able to scape the ENTIRE U.S. Coast Guard! 10 Farscape Season 1 boxsets and 82 Farscape Best of Season 1 boxsets have been donated to the U.S. Coast Guard for placement on their total of 92 installations and vessels around the world.
Presently, more donations to the various branches of the military are being worked out and donations to help make that possible are appreciated. Keep an eye on our news to keep up on this project!
